• Bilateral Coordination & Crossing Midline

Bilateral Coordination refers to the coordinated use of both sides of the body at the same time.  An important part of bilateral coordination is crossing midline which refers to having one side of the body move across the body into the space of the other side.  Crossing midline is important for establishing hand dominance and switching hands when performing an activity is usually linked to poor ability to cross midline. Activities that help with these skills are below:

    • Keepy-Uppy with a balloon or ball
    • Throwing or catching a ball
    • Zoom Ball
    • Lacing activities
    • Drumming
    • Coloring with dominant hand and using non-dominant hand to stabilize the paper
