• Sensory Regulation and Sensory Processing

Sensory Processing and Sensory Regulation refers to the way a student can be part of a classroom filled with sensory information.  Students that have difficulty processing and regulating sensory information will have a more difficult time attending to tasks, playing appropriately and completing school-related tasks.  Activities to promote improved sensory processing include:

    • Participating in heavy work
    • Walking to school
    • Eating chewy foods
    • Drinking thick liquids through a straw
    • Use of weighted blankets
    • Activities with a sensory bin
