    Grades K-3rd Grade - Literacy:

I am very happy to begin a new school year in Reading/Language Arts. We utilize the Fundations and Schoolwide Reading Programs,  which is linked to the general education classrooms but modified as necessary to fit individual student needs.  Many other phonics and programs are used as supplemental instruction.  The students are exposed to a multi-sensory learning environment that suits individual needs.

High Frequency Words will be introduced weekly.  Putting these words on flashcards, spelling them in sand, shave cream, etc. will help your child to remember them. Homework is important and given approximately 4 times per week. Your child will be given a reading log along with some reading materials. It would be helpful if your child reads every night! If you have any concerns, or need homework to be further modified, please do not hesitate to contact me. I consider it very important to be part of your child's education. I believe that together, we can make this a successful year!

    Grades 2,3 Math

In math, we will be utilizing the Go Math Program used in the general education classrooms. Modifications to the program will be made to suit the needs of each individual student. The students will learn the TouchMath strategies to help them with basic skills (counting, adding, subtracting, etc.).   Additional programs, with many opportunities for hands-on, multi-sensory activities, will be implemented to benefit all types of learners. Again, homework is important to reinforce skills learned and will be given approximately 3-4 times per week.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any concerns you may have. With your help and support, I believe we can have a wonderful year in Math!
