Brielle Elementary School Anti Bullying Team

Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying

The Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights was passed in New Jersey on January 5, 2011.   As a result, each school district pursuant to section 3 of P.L. 2002, c.83 is mandated to include provisions for appropriate responses to harassment, intimidation or bullying (HIB).  Each school is mandated to appoint a Safety Team led by a School Specialist and District Anti-bullying Coordinator.   The designees and their roles are as follows:

School Anti-Bullying Specialists -

Mrs. Beth O’Reilly: boreilly@brielleschool.org (grades 5-8) & Mrs. Adrienne Mahon: amahon@brielleschool.org (grades K-5)

The School Anti-Bullying Specialists chair the School Safety Team, lead the investigations of incidents of harassment, intimidation, and bullying in the school, and act as the primary school officials responsible for preventing, identifying, and addressing incidents of HIB.

District Anti-Bullying Coordinator - Stephanie Pennetti: spennetti@brielleschool.org

The District Anti-Bullying Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and strengthening the school district's policies to prevent, identify, and address harassment, intimidation, or bullying of students.

In this role, Mrs. Pennetti collaborates with School Anti-Bullying Specialists in the district, the Board of Education, and the Superintendent to prevent, identify, and respond to harassment, intimidation, or bullying of students in the district.

The District Anti-Bullying Coordinator also meets twice a year with the specialists (once in the fall and once in the spring) to discuss and strengthen procedures and policies to prevent, identify, and address harassment, intimidation, and bullying in the district.

School Safety Team

The School Safety Team receives complaints of bullying, receives copies of reports prepared after an investigation of a HIB incident, identifies and addresses patterns of HIB, reviews and strengthens school climate, educates the school community in preventing HIB incidents, participates in appropriate training, and collaborates with the district anti-bullying coordinator.
